I Would Love to Work in a Lab Someday
Dec 17, 2010
Marissa Honeycutt spent her summer at Tulane Cancer Center, where she joined a team exploring the use of human multipotent stromal cells in stem cell-based therapies that target tumors, particularly in ovarian cancer.
What did you do?
I worked in the lab on Immunohistochemistry. I did things like make samples, and take pictures of cells. From the pictures, I had to identify the type of cell.
What was your favorite part of the internship?
I enjoyed getting to do experiments and working in the lab. It was fun.
What do you want to in the future?
I want to go to school to study gene therapy.
What is that?
Gene therapy is genetics, it is (similar to) what I studied over the summer. I would love to work in a lab someday.
