Sci High Celebrates Twenty Years!
Apr 22, 2013
This Saturday, April 20th, Sci High celebrated her twentieth anniversary as an open-enrollment high school in New Orleans. It was a true joy to see founders, faculty, alumni, board members and our neighbors smiling and laughing together, sharing anecdotes and introductions. With special science experiments provided by the Science Department, "science poetry" performed by current members of the Sci High Debate Team, and even a performance by the 610 Stompers (three current Sci High staff are members!) the event was entertaining AND educational.
Amid the toasts to the events planners, thanking Kay Kerrigan for her excellent events planning and Percy Ellis (Class of '09) for his fantastic work decorating the school, co-principal Chana Benenson asked the crowd to raise their glasses to the most important members of the school: the students of Sci High. Their lives are the true testament to the success of our work, and their success is the greatest cause of our celebration.
